The numbers

Where do the rates come from?
From what a guest can see online. RevStar reads the public price for your hotel and for each hotel you compete with, for every night your plan covers. It does not connect to your reservations.
Which hotels does it watch?
The ones you pick. You choose up to 5 competitors from the hotels near you, or 10 on the Market plan. You can remove one at any time in Settings. Once your first rates are in, you can add up to 3 new competitors a month.
How far ahead does it look?
A paid plan always shows the next 60 nights. The free trial shows the 60 nights from the day it starts, and you can refresh them once a day for the 7 days of the trial.
How fresh are the rates?
On CompRate and Market, a refresh runs every morning from 3 am at your hotel, without anyone logging in, and you can press Refresh once a day as well. On the trial you press Refresh yourself, once a day, for its 7 days. Each refresh rereads tonight and the next 7 nights. Nights further out are reread less often, because prices far ahead change less often. A night that shows no price is tried again on every refresh, however far ahead it is. How the data works
What does sold out mean here?
That RevStar looked further and found nothing for sale at that hotel for that night. A missing price on its own is shown as not known, and is never counted as sold out. Not every night without a price gets that further look, so a hotel that is full can still read as not known. What sold out means
What counts as a local event?
Concerts, games, conferences and the like inside the radius you set, 40 miles to start with. The closer an event is to your hotel, the more it counts. Public holidays are marked too.

The suggestions

How does it decide what to suggest?
It compares your public rate, night by night, with the hotels you compete with, using the ones of a similar star rating when there are enough of them. It also looks at which nights competitors have sold out and what is on nearby. Rules mark the nights worth your attention, and an AI model writes the final list in plain English, with a suggested rate and a reason. Every rate it suggests is then held inside the range those hotels actually charged on those nights. How a suggestion is made
Will it change my rates for me?
No. RevStar suggests and you decide. You make the change yourself, in your own property management system or channel manager.
What is the dollar figure beside a suggestion?
An estimate of what a raise could add: the rate difference, times the rooms it counts, times the nights. The share of your rooms it counts depends on the reason for the raise, from 25 to 45 percent, and the app shows the full sum when you open How this is calculated. It is an estimate, not a forecast.
Does it know my bookings?
No. It sees public prices, yours included, and public events. It does not know how many rooms you have sold, so treat it as a second opinion.
Does it connect to my property management system or channel manager?
No, and it does not need to. RevStar reads public prices, so there is nothing to install and nothing to connect. You make any rate change yourself, in your own system.
Can I stop it suggesting a rate that is too low?
Yes. Set a minimum rate in your hotel's settings and RevStar will not suggest changing to a rate below it.

Plans and paying

What does it cost?
$29.99 a month per hotel for CompRate, or $49.99 for Market, after a 7 day free trial. One flat price per hotel, whatever its size. See the plans
Do I need a card to start the trial?
No. The trial is 7 days and you choose a plan only if you stay.
What happens when the trial ends?
No card is taken to start the trial, so nothing is charged when it ends. If you have not chosen a plan, the hotel is locked: the competitors you picked and your settings are kept, and rates stop refreshing until you choose one.
What is the difference between CompRate and Market?
Only the number of competitors. CompRate tracks up to 5 and Market up to 10. Both show the next 60 nights, refresh themselves every morning, and send a morning email with your summary and what to change, at 7 am unless you pick another hour.
How do I cancel?
In Settings, under Billing, choose Manage billing, or email billing@shiningstar.software from the address on your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and you are not charged again. Refund and cancellation policy
I run more than one hotel. Can I see them together?
Yes. Add each hotel to the same account. Each has its own plan, and the Portfolio page lists them in order of what needs doing first.

Your account and your data

What do I need to get started?
Your hotel's name and address, and about five minutes. You confirm which listing is your hotel, pick your competitors from a list of hotels near you, and the first rates usually arrive within a few minutes.
How do I sign in?
With a link we email you, which works once and expires in 15 minutes, or with Google. There is no password to remember.
Can my manager or my revenue manager have access?
Yes. An owner invites people by email and chooses which hotels each of them can see.
Who can see my hotel's data?
The people on your account, each only for the hotels an owner gave them. Our own staff can open an account to help with a support question, and every change they make there is recorded.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The dashboard, the list of what to change and your portfolio are all laid out for a phone.
Where is my data kept, and for how long?
In the United States. Detailed rate history is kept for 60 days. You can delete a hotel, or your whole account, yourself in Settings, and it is erased when you do. The Security page lists the few records that stay. How your data is handled
How do I get help?
Email support@shiningstar.software. Support is by email, during normal United States business hours. All the ways to reach us
